Frequently Asked Questions

Creative Kidz On Stage in 485 words or less...  Go!
That's technically not a question, but here we go.  Creative Kidz On Stage is a company that manages performing arts (music, dance, drama ) programs in various Queensland schools.  We take care of the administration and organisation of teaching staff so schools don't have those hassles.  Students get access to a wider range of performing arts disciplines than might otherwise be possible.  Parents get the comfort of knowing they're dealing with an established and trustworthy company.
How does it work?
Turning your child into a star of tomorrow requires just five easy steps:
    1.    Download and fill out an enrolment form [form for primary students - form for secondary students]
    2.    Post or fax it to us
    3.    We schedule lessons in consultation with the school
    4.    Your child turns up to their eight lessons in a term (an average of one lesson per week)
    5.    They're a star in no time!

What schools are you in?
We're currently in many schools throughout south east Queensland. Please  contact us for details.
What's the best way to pay?
Our credit card option is the best.  It is easy and convenient, there are no late fees and no need to remember to send in payments.  This automatically cancels upon the discontinuation of your child when the correct process has been followed.
See Payments.
How do I know if my son/daughter is attending regularly?
Our database automatically sends an email to the parent, teacher & music coordinator if your son/daughter misses two consecutive lessons without prior notice.
Do I receive a report for my son/daughter?
The musical development and technical progress of individual students is of utmost importance to us.  Depending on the area, student progress is monitored in a variety of ways.  These include the weekly lessons, regular individual performances and technical assessments.  Instrumental students are encouraged to develop confidence and enjoyment in performing.  Reports are sent home at the end of each semester.
What do you mean by 'Ensemble'?
If your child enrols in our program they have free access to any of the ensembles that we manage at that school.  On occasions an extension program may be offered to primary school students where we invite your son/daughter to participate in the ensemble at the local high school that we manage.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes.  In our high school program we offer the “Private” and "Private+" lesson package.  Through the “Private Plus” package, students receive either a private lesson and an Industry class (see glossary below) or private lesson and group lesson of another discipline.
Do I need to re-enrol each term?
No.  To save with paper work, all our lessons continue until we receive written notification that you wish to stop.
I'm moving to a different country.  How do I let you know my child won't be continuing with lessons?
Just let us know in writing, either via email, fax or a note sent to our PO Box.  See our
Contact Us page for these details.  Please notify us directly through our office, not through the school or our teaching staff.
Do I need to supply my own instrument?
Yes.  It is expected that all students own/ hire their own instrument, books and music stands.  The teacher will discuss with the student which book they would like them to purchase during the course of lessons.
In some cases the school may own the larger instruments e.g., drums, xylophones, tubas, piano/keyboards.  However it is expected that the student has something at home to practise on.
How much practise should my child be doing?
Well, how good do they want to be!?!? People choose to study music for many different reasons, all of which have their own answer to this question.  Have your child discuss this with their teacher for an accurate answer.  We suggest 15 to 30 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week.  Remember, the more practise you do, the better you get.  The better you get, the more practise you do!
